Looking for idea's on trapping a otter out of a farm pond . That's 97 % freezen over.

Can you see where they are entering the pond? I'd try and blind set with a conibear. That's how I catch them anyway. I don't know what the regs are in MD, but I'd camo up a 220 on their slide if law allows one on dry land.

Pay attention to the 3%. That's where they will be most of the time. Set accordingly.

Block off any inlets or outlets with conibears.Conibears up tight to any points of land out into pond under the ice.

My method as well... This will only work for really good look'n guys... LOL!

Re iced over ponds set at :
- Old beaver (abandoned) lodge entrances.
- At beaver dams with a constant water flow over the dam place a
trap or two back under the ice. Enlarge the hole if necessary to accommodate the traps. Then
block off the sides to the dam with sticks thus forcing the otter through the trap(s).
