I have a small otter I drag behind me. I don't carry a lot in it. Half a dozen 330's, tools etc.
Works great in snow. I am going to put rigid sleeves on the pull ropes though. I am getting tired if getting hit in the heels with it when going down hill.
Even works good when setting in creeks. I pull the sled behind me like a little skiff. Beats having to find a place to set buckets or a backpack down.

I use a cheap black cement mixing tub from Lowe’s works pretty good. Normally only use it when setting then when pulling sets. Also don’t mind it getting beat up for how cheep they are. Most the time while checking sets, I’ll just throw the beaver over my back and walk out but can only do 2 beavers that way. Then everyone at the gas station thinks you smell good with a castor soaked back hahaha.

I have several sleds in sizes shapes for different pursuits. Many different brands and they all seem very sturdy(except the smaller/thinner cement tubs mentioned - but I just stacked two of them and that real beefed them up for small loads, there is a version with one end curved easier to pull). I think it more important that you choose the one you want than any certain brand. on any of them I prefer hard pull handle over just rope. Made them from metal conduit w/ ball cups for ATV pulling to ones of three pieces of PVC pipe( two long side, one 12" handle threaded on rope). I really hate it when sled can slide up and slam you.

I use the jet sled, great for beaver and under ice rat trapping. I also use it for firewood.

I use my jet sled beaver trapping in the snow. Have never had a problem with it. Also use it ice fishing. Good product

I’ve had otter crack in the cold if you get rough on them. Jet is lighter and doesn’t crack.

I have a very large older otter sled (early 90s) that I use for trapping my wadable rivers instead of loading a canoe. Works great. I also use it to drag behind my 4-wheeler when putting out buckets, lids and tubs for collecting sap. I have a smaller one that I use for hard water rat trapping. The smaller, newer one (2015) is the hard or more brittle material and yes they can crack easily. The old one is of the more pliable or softer material and it does not get near as brittle but has held up very well. I have no experience with the other brands.

I like your style there Rendezvous!!!
Otter sled here, used hard for bait hauling. No experience with the others. They're relatively cheap. Improved utility by drilling along sides and lacing some rope to hook an ATV cargo net to.
Also might consider a cheap game cart for dry ground. I picked on up this year and it's awesome. Going to fasten a concrete mixing tub to it and a cargo net for next fall.

Jumperzee, I like the cargo net idea. I've tipped mine a few times.

Yeah K - as you can see in the top pic above, it tends to ride on edge in you tracks. The net saves a lot of headaches.

I use on Otter sled behind a snowmachine, but I added six inch wide strips of UHMW to both sides as outrigger skis, overlap about 2 inches on the bottom so makes the base about 8 inches wider. Makes it WAY more stable and I don't have a problem with it tipping over that way. Mine is the PRO and I just bought a new one today, still seems to be flexible, I think possibly the "sport" or WILD models are made out of a different more brittle material? Also I add strips of one inch thick UHMW on the ridges on the bottom, without that I would quickly wear through the bottom dragging it across rocks.
Mine has about 15,000 miles on it and other than having to rebuild the hitch attachment it is still working good. I tried the strips that OTTER sells for the bottom but couldn't get a winter out of them, the UHMW lasts me several winters, I need to replace them right now and will probably do it in the next few days, but I got either 4 or 5 winters out of 1 inch thick UHMW.
