#2 chain question

#2 chain question - 08/01/21 04:23 PM

I'm looking to possibly put a few links of #2 chain on the end of my cable anchors to help with bedding.

Question is, will the large quick links fit through the chain so I can move traps easily, then retrieve my anchors in the spring once the ground thaws? Or, will small links hold the occasional coyote and fit the chain easily?

Thoughts from experience? Thanks.

I am using 3/16 quick links on my earth anchor set up. Just make sure they are tight. Used with #3 chain. I would go with #3 over #2. Buying #3 is only .10 cents a foot more.

I found the US chain was big enough, but the import was smaller. Might not be all are too small you'll just have to try.

Both will work but the #3 has several advantages over the smaller #2. For the small price difference, why take a chance?

I kinda had that thought after posting. Since it'll be only a few inches at the end of the cable, price won't be a big factor. Plus, I'll have enough to make a few drags to try out this year, since I mainly have to trap on state land. Be nice to get critters moved away fromthe visible areas without using cable slides.

Thanks for your thoughts, guys!
