Bridger Bobcat Cage Trap

Bridger Bobcat Cage Trap - 03/05/22 01:36 AM

I need a cage trap for bobcats and the Bridger is high on my list because of my opinion of Bridgers quality and lead time.

Anyone have any experience using it for bobcats? I think its the smallest I would use for bobcats and I'd rather have a solid pan but I can get it quicker than any of the others.

I've looked at a lot of other traps and I'm not set on the Bridger but for the reasons I mentioned.

If you have experience trapping bobcats with the Bridger Bobcat Cage Trap, 15" x 14" x 36" I'd like to hear how it performed for you.

You would be better off with a 15w x 18t x 36 long.

I would go with the comstock or tomahawk bobcat trap. They are more money but I like them more than the bridger. I like my traps to be at a minimum of 18 tall and at least 8 inches wide.

I really like the powered doors on the Comstock's and the Tomahawks look good, the Freedom Brand and the Duke are bigger and they are all definitely on my list.

This, Perspective—Big Bobcats / Smaller Comstock Cage Traps and a comment on another thread by Mercer Lawing are the only references I've found to similar size cage traps for cats.

As I mentioned earlier I haven't decided exclusively on the Bridger's but the lack of information on them and the "small cage, big cat" topic has really got my interest.

I have caught several bobcats in a 11"x12"x36" safeguard trap as has a buddy of mine. They will crawl in on their bellies to get to something they find interesting. Not my preferred size cat trap but it works. These cages were set for coon and skunk initially. There are several good cage traps for cat work. Shop around and get a couple different types and try them out.

Thanks Bob, that's kind of what I'm expecting to hear. I hope more guys such as yourself chime in. I really do believe that an 18" or taller trap is best but I strongly suspect that catching a cat in a 15" trap is not all that uncommon. You just have to put something irresistible in there, right?
