California Ground Squirrel - 10/08/22 11:17 PM

A few or more years ago, I posted a thread in regard to trapping California ground squirrels. Something "technical" happened to this forum and that thread was lost/deleted. The ground squirrels show up 5 or so times each year. When they make their presence known, I have become pretty adept at catching them with both live traps and conibear traps. At the time I posted the thread, someone PM'ed me, for some reason I think he was an Oregon trapper? Anyhow, thanks to everyone who offered help at the time and the trapper that pm'ed me. The squirrels shown in the image were caught in two separate live traps on the same day and two days prior, I caught one.

Unfortunately, not all of my catches are "full send" but pretty clean catch here.

This is one of the most productive traps I have. While the squirrels have tunnels and tunnel exits all over the property and under every building including the house, the orchard, out in the garden, field etc., for some reason, this outbuilding gets them coming and going more often than any of the others. Simple box with a killer clip screwed to the bottom to hold the trap in place.
