Inside or outside jaw spread? What does your state law say? Thats all that matters.

Yup, state law.

Other than that anything between 5 and 6 will work. I've caught coyotes in 1.5 to 4.

And be sure to read the fine print. Some states measure inside others outside and some even disallow lamination to count towards the spread.

Also is a Victor 1 1/2 big enough for coyotes?

I have caught coyotes in 1 1/2s, but I won't say they are ideal for the job.

I wouldn’t buy 1.5 coil springs for coyote, but if it’s all you got and the budget won’t allow for some larger traps….. Mind your placement and they work. 1.5 longsprings are not really adequate for coyote in my opinion. Maybe if they have pan tension and really stout springs.

Bend those jaw tips UP then weld a bubble to their tips. Then install J C Conners in line shocks to the chain.
