It's supposed to get here Saturday morning. I look forward to the cold, I like the time alone in the woods because one has to be a little bit nutty to be out in the cold.
We had 1 degree at 5:30 AM today, but with very limited wind. Storm is supposed to arrive sometime around midnight. They are talking 3-8 inches with over one day of 40 plus mph winds. Five days ago they were projecting us to get 11-13 inches of snow. Maybe getting that much colder is lowering the snow totals. Dry air does not hold near the moisture. Still going to be a rough travel day Thursday night and Friday. Glad Christmas is 6 miles down the road for us.
Saturday here will be in the teens with 70 mph winds
Hold on to your Stormy Cromer!
The way the meteorologists are describing this storm it may surpass the Blizzard of '77 which I clearly remember as frightening. 3 feet of lake effect snow, single digit temps and 70 mph winds does not bode well.
Toughen up fellows........ We live on the Great Plains : You have to be Great or just Plain Crazy to live here!!!!!! ........................... the mike
-19 with 40 mph winds this morning. Had a high today of -9 along with the 40mph winds. Windchills have been around -40. Friday is supposed to bring more of the same. At least we only got an inch of snow.
Still pounding in a few sets here on the wind blown areas. Getting tough to get around. Ground is awfully hard and today and tomorrow are blizzard conditions so will see what Saturday brings when the wind dies down. Just can't go a day without having some steel in the ground!
I live in Arkansas. Not used to weather like we are having. At 7 am Friday wind chill is going to be -34. Its -7 degrees right now. Wind is blowing bad.
Bison88. Thats a good looking trap ! Have afew of those myself! LoL! Worked in West Texas 1 day. Wind was 60 mph and temp was 30. Felt much colder. Only set remakes and know coyote locations. Was wearing. Ace Hardware goggles setting traps because of the sand blowing round
Bad news is I still set that one too close to the fence. It was under about 3' of snow today. That plowed lane shifted the pattern where the snow was drifting. Good news that was the only one drifted under. All my others ones required very little attention. Now its just a matter of waiting them out and keeping them operational. Love my Sterlings. Generally only break them out when I'm sure all fall field work is done. Will continue to pound in a few more sets tomorrow. Merry Christmas everyone!
