Shovel? With some you need a front-end loader!

I agree. A nice couple buckets of sifted dirt. Not sure how dry it is, but mix a little salt with it and you are good to go. I have had some go so deep with a longer chain I couldn't see them at all. That was a challenge and time wasted.

Caught our biggest bobcat on a reset after a badger catch, we had way more mounds of dirt.
We had a front toe catch on that badger couldn't believe one little toe held it.
Nice catch !!!

That wouldn't be a step down set, more like a fall down set! Definitely committed!

Are pit fall traps legal?

Yep when you catch them it usually looks like a excavator has been at work.

The only time I caught a badger that did not dig a crater was one that was caught by both front feet. I wasn't going to complain!

Haven't seen dry dirt in months. Rain, snow, sleet, more rain more snow and then more rain again followed by wet snow.

Caught 2 that day.... me and my bright ideas decided to skin them with feet on for the taxi or craft market... I'm going to have to have about 200 a piece to cover my labor. Lol they are greasier than a coon, pull harder than a coyote and stink as bad as skunk

I usually have 5 or 6 by now but haven’t connected thank God. I hate fleshing them but it’s hard to beat the fur on a nice thick silver back.

I used to make an imitation badger catch circle as an attractant, using a maddox or pick ax.
Tremendous eye appeal
