Oklahoma trip

Brought my oldest daughter with and we're definitely having some fun. The wind is still hard to adjust to as it's never the same direction for long. We still have 2 new properties to set up but had some success checking what we set yesterday. Ended up with 7 coon, 2 coyotes, 1 possum, 1 skunk, and 1 Grey which we released.

Don’t catch skunks, but that one looks pretty cool! Don’t think I’ve ever seen a pic of one like that.

This is my oddball Oklahoma skunk from 2012. I sold to a taxidermist and his freezer went out and lost it. I wish I would have had it mounted but I was needing the money at the time rather than paying to have it mounted.

Lucked into another one today, 14 miles from the first one. Another fun day it got up to 68 degrees and supposed to be in the 70s tomorrow. Couldn't think of a better way to spend a week in January.

Another fun day, barely a breeze and 76 degrees. I am humbled by how friendly the locals are and there willingness to give us free reign of their properties.

Another cool day. Got to hang out with a couple bull riders and had 1 check traps with us on the ranch he is working on. My kid is not going to forget this trip.

Ended up with 4 coyotes, 6 coon, and a bobcat. Ended the day with a tripod which is kinda cool.

Looks like a great trip! Landowners done here are the same. They want the critters and hogs gone, but don’t want to pay to have it done, lol.

I was offered a house to stay in and a rig for driving around. I'm not at the level where I can guarantee results or properly set a property up. They have cooked us meals and offered to buy any gear we want. I am just grateful for places to roam around that aren't public. It's warm down here and if we harvest a few dozen coyotes and some cats we will be content. The cool skunks will cover the gas and the couple cats we already caught should cover the hotel, pretty cheap vacation when all is said and done.

That right there is how a vacation should be spent. Way cool your daughter is along and you guys are having success

Slower day today, very windy. Another cool skunk found its way to the back of the truck.

Another nice skunk. Yote don't look half bad either. What are the temps like down there? Assuming you're not having to use waxed dirt?

I have 15 gallons of waxed sand here but never needed it. Coldest has been lower 30s and the highs in the 70s. Wind has been something we aren't used to dealing with. It is supposed to blow 40 mph on Saturday but we will be pulling to head home Sunday so we should stay warm enough.

50 - 60ish, putting a few more in here and there as we learn and explore the new properties every day. Tomorrow we will just check and reset as we have to meet the CO mid-day.

Sure looks like a good time! Those are the coolest skunks I've ever seen.

That second pic from the top of this page reminds me of Sonic the Hedgehog, lol!! Except in Black and White.

I asked the local CO about them when I was getting the cats tagged, he said he had never seen or heard of anyone else getting skunks like that. Stopped by a small taxidermy shop and he was really intrigued as well. This is definitely a cool trip.

Pull day, ended up with 72 sets out, usually 2 or 3 foot holds with 2 dps trying to intercept the coons. Traps were out anywhere from 7 to two trap nights as we were setting as we came across sign. The total was 21 coyotes, 2 bobcat, 54 coons, 13 skunks, 2 greys - both released, and 1 possum. Had a blast with the kid and running on 2 new properties.
