You will get many answers and they will all be good good. I personally like mb750 and TS85. Whatever you decide to go with, I wouldn't use anything smaller than a #4
It's crazy but I just use conibears, check every day.
Set, check, and check pull Trap's.
Set heavy, get it done in 2 days.
And move on, let some one else try that spot .
By than people are curious of what's going on
and it's not your problem than.
If I know theft is most likely to happen, I go with snares.
Sad that theft is even a problem you know.
But it is

If snares a legal option that is what I'd choose. They can be used on drowning rods. Many beavers have been caught in #3 coils intentionally. Just set them shallow for a front foot catch.

Can you use Traps with teeth?

#4 longspring is my go to, although I've caught plenty in #3 over the years. I had some old jumps around I would set in areas I was worried about theft, because they worked, but I didn't like them so near as much as my longsprings. You can pick up used longsprings for not too bad a price. If you can use traps with teeth I like them for beaver and weld them on.

I trap exclusively on public / state forest land, so I use Duke 4 x 4 also. If I lose one, it doesn't hurt too much.

They may not be big iron beaver traps but don't tell that to the beaver that I've hauled to the truck.
I like big traps but the dukes flat out work for not much coin.
I like a number 4 longspring ...but use alot of Duke 4 ...I'd use bigger traps if the state laws allowed it

I have these in cs and ls love them both, but if you go long spring make sure and short chain them around the base plate!

I like the CDR 7.5 and Bridger #5 LS. I will use Bridger #5 CS when I run out of CDRs. We are limited to an 8" jaw here.
If I was looking for an inexpensive trap I'd look at the #4 Duke for beaver
Not sure what your restrictions are, but for PA we cannot exceed 6.5" outside jaw spread. I just a dozen Beaver Extreme's from No-BS and a buddy of mine that's on this forum is going to modify them to be 6.5", so I'll have that much larger frame to be able to swallow up rear feet. He's also made a dozen Bridger #5 coils PA legal for me. Those don't fit what you're trying to do... I've used K-9 Extremes and really like them for beaver trapping given our restrictions... The most cost effective traps that I've used with success are just about all mentioned above- Duke #3, Duke #4, #4 Jumps that were modified with PIT pans and lams, #4 double long springs that have been modified with PIT pans and lams, and even had a #2 Duke dogless work well when I was short on traps years ago, just had to find the right situation where a front foot catch was most likely to be attained. These are all on 10' rebar drowning rods.
