How many traps do you have?

I’ve been prepping traps all day. I have 12 dz a mix of mb 550’s, sterlings and k9 extremes . 2dz 3N and 4 dz coon cuffs and 5 live traps for raccoon. I know a lot of you have a serious amount of hardware. Post how many you have. If you can’t tell I’m bored lol

Too many! But I still use #1 & 1.5 LS with Cast Jaws, #1 Diamond and Triumphs LS in double jaws, Square and RJ Jaw #2 & 3 Montgomery coils from the 1980's, and Square 110,120, 220 and 330 size BG's along side the newer design model LS's ,BG's and the Coils you mentioned. Don't even bring up the DP's (LOL)............................................... the mike

If I set all the traps I have I would never be able to check them all in a 24 HR check. So yep to many but that's ok.

Would take days just to count, hundreds of squirrel live traps, tons of other live traps, 10 dozen or so Duke 650 pro's, 120's, 220's, 280's 330's, more than I care to count. Last year I dyed and waxed most of my land traps and it took 2 days and I was beat. Would take close to that to go thru my water traps, then there is live traps rat traps mouse traps I by in cases of several hundred. Mole and Gopher traps? Wouldn't know where to start.

You sound like you have a well rounded arsenal of coyote traps. If you had to only run one trap for coyotes what trap would you run excluding the obvious choice of the MJ600.

I have 2 dz of the No BS k9 extreme jr with the wire levers I have high hopes of being my go to trap for coyotes. I do love my Mb 550’s. Wish the jaw spread was 6” and the pan was just a little larger but they hammer the coyotes regardless.

Agree I wish MTP had made a MB 600 or 625,hard to beat the NO BS traps line up,the one bad thing with the NO BS they will hold quite a few deer and calves,their lock up is something else.

I actually know this one, as I just finished my prep and processing and got them all organized. I have 35 dozen cat & canine traps, 90% a mix of Bridger #3 dogless & MB 550, the rest a balance of double longsprings, No BS jrs, MB 650's and a couple dozen smaller coils. Plus another 6 dozen mixed sizes of bodygrippers.

More than makes sense but every year for the first 10 years I would add a dozen or two. They add up.

For land, mostly (a lot of) MB 550s, a dozen original Alphas and a couple dozen No. 3 DLS. Five or six dozen dog proofs.

Wow, I only have about 25 traps but then I mostly trap just to thin the predator population down to help out our resident deer and turkey population.

About 500. Just did my inventory update.
I don’t set nearly that many, and some are pretty specific in purpose. Like I have a couple totes of 110s some for rats and some for mink. Same with 1.5 coils a couple toes full and I don’t plan to set any of those this season, no water in ponds or creeks around here so not wasting my time trying to find some.
On predator side there is bulk of my traps and I have different models and sizes for different purposes.
I typically run about 75-100 traps a season and will be a Mix of coyote/cat footholds, some DPs, and some 220s.

I'm like Bukman. I trap mainly to keep predator populations in check for the small game, deer and turkey in areas where we hunt. Perhaps next year when I retire (Lord willing) I can pick up some other places. I only have about 6 dozen coil springs and a dozen DP's.

A whole bunch. But never enough. A couple dozen Victor jumps from#1 to #3, a few dozen #4 &#5 longsprings (mostly victors, there's a few others mixed in), several dozen #1 and #1 1/2 longsprings (Victor, Bridger, Duke), 2 dozen #11 longsprings, 3 dozen #110's (Victor, Duke), 4 dozen #120's (belisle, Duke), a dozen belisle 220's, 16 #280's (Duke, belisle), a dozen #330's (Duke, belisle), a dozen mb 750 alaskan, a dozen no bs wolf xtreme, half a dozen AK #9's, and a couple koros someone gave me. I also have a few storage totes of coil springs from #1-#5 size from various manufacturers, and a couple more totes of traps rigged for drowning beaver and otter (ts-85's, Victor cs #3's &4's, Duke cs#3's, etc) each has a drowning lock on 10'-20' of 1/8" cable with an adjustable loop on either end. And of course along with all that comes a few different fleshing beams, enough stretching boards to side my house with, and a vast and stinky lure/bait collection

I only have 18 coyote traps, 6 DPs, 3 #2s for I don't know what and one gopher trap.

Have you seen a no bs or a no bs jr hold a deer? If so I’m going to need to change up my plans to use them on a trophy deer lease I’ll be trapping after Christmas.

I’ve had a few deer trip mine but have not held any yet. I have held good size pigs though.

I probably have around 400-500, no clue anymore. That's one goal for the summer is to inventory my traps so I know what I have.

somewhere between 2 and 3 thousand. with these markets, might be time to start selling a few off.

For all practical purposes I retired from trapping on1/15/25 so I have way too many traps to play touchy-feelly with now!

I have no real idea...I have a hundred or so set up for K9 work, mixture of 550s, Jakes, NO Bs Jrs. and some odd ones I aquired along the way. There are easily a hundred 1.5 coil/longsprings here between me and my 3 boys, i have 6 dozen Victor 2's that were my Dad's, 2 dozen or so VIctor 4 DLS, 4 dozen DPs, 7 or 8 dozen 110s, a single 120, a few 160s, few 220s, ten 330's, half dozen Bridger #5 coils, and a couple totes of parts and pieces. I guess 400 or so traps that I can remember, if I dug around I might find some more. I still can't help looking at trap shed every day, I have been caught more than once with a sweet deal already this year....

I have never believed I own enough traps, I have also never believed I could set all that I own, neither has bothered me and I still buy what strikes me as needed, the plan is to die looking for a deal on some traps.....I may not need.

Good question I would have to count so I'll just say hundreds.

Over 200 that are just wall hangers in the shed and 115 that are ready to use, and 6 more in the mail that I bought yesterday lol never enough

Just bought another 3 dz in the last month.

Last time I counted was 121 dozen. That was 6 to 7 years ago. I have bought many more since then. Everything from #1 to#5 both coil and longsprings. 110 to 660 body grips, plus build many dozen snares a year.

Wow not near as many as many have for sure! I own about 400-500 and that is plenty for me now heading for 78 this fall. Now one in my family other than me has ever trapped so was planning to donate mine, but will take a look at that as around here the species we trap the most are not encouraging new trappers to take up the venture.

Didn’t realize I was on the big money site, lol. If you own more traps than you can set, then you have a LOT more money than most folks I know.
I have maybe 4 dozen footholds and a 1.5-2 dozen DP’s. I’d have to have about 20K+ acres or more for the traps the rich folks own. Heck, it would take me 3-4 24hr days to set 300-400 traps.
I keep enough to trap the properties I have access to and most of the time I still can’t find enough locations to set them all.

It's an addiction, like women and shoes! I have dozens of traps that I never set. However, I will say that when doing land and water trapping you need a lot. I have probably 200 muskrat traps that only get set about every 10 years or so when we have a wet cycle. In addition, for predator traps, I like to set clean traps, although not necessary. That eats up a lot of traps.

125-135 dozen. I'd sell some if the market was there to justify it. Majority will just collect dust for now.

Well I just caught the Long Spring Fever. I’ve added 2 dz #4 new house LS. 1 dz #4 Victor LS and 7 - 4 1/2 sleepy creeks.

I did sell 1dz mb550 to a guy who had a coyote problem along with lessons so I’m down some but started liking the Duke 650’s so thinking on adding 2dz of those soon. I need help lol !

I was buying the Duke 650 for $175 dozen this time last year with their sale and birthday pricing. I stocked up but most are still in the box.!

Water, land, and coon….just 150 or so. A healthy amount for I have time for.

I added more yesterday while I was in town. Our local grocery chain is trying to get rid of trapping supplies to make room for other seasonal stuff, so I bought 2 dozen duke 850 OS for $250 a dozen

Wish I could find a deal like that. Those are huge traps !!! I held one the other day. It’s a hunk of steel. A Duke 650 is about perfect for my needs. Plan on adding 2 or 3 dz soon as I hear about a sale.

They were $40 a piece all winter, so I never paid them any attention, then a few weeks ago they marked all trapping and ice fishing stuff down 20%, and I thought about it, but decided I could order them from duke for the same price, so I walked away. But then I saw they had them labeled $25 each, and I asked how much for a dozen and they said $250, so I said I’d take as many as they had (only 2 dozen, but I was still happy)

Cant never have too many coyote traps. I did buy 6 new duke #5 dls. I painted them. And never set them up. I may try to trade them for more coyotes traps. I am planning on buying 3 dz more of 550's. And a dz of Duke 330 Magnums. I did find some Bridger 4.5 dls. I may try to buy.

A lot fewer than I had 10 years ago! When I quit coyote trapping and just plain slowed down, I got to thinking about the problem I’d be leaving for my wife in getting rid of my traps & gear after I was gone. Well by golly I got a call from a new widow of a friend of mine from up in Northern MI. She ask me that question, how to get rid of her husbands traps because like my wife, she had no idea except to call me. After that call I started selling my trapping stuff AND my firearms.
