Hi. Is a Sargent 22 the same size as a Newhouse #2?
Thanks for any info. Pat.

The Sargent 22 is approximately the same size as other #2 double long springs of the time period. There is not now and never has been any standard sizing of traps. The 20 series Sargent traps are very popular collector traps and are a dogless trap with squared off jaws. The were produced with bolted in(riveted) jaws or hooked in jaws. The larger two sizes(23 and 24) have offset jaws with teeth. One would look VERY nice with your other #2 double longs.

Thanks for the good news. I’ve been talking to Jeff about buying one of his bolted ones.

A few 22's and 23's recently sold on ebay for $460 each, they had both hook in jaws and bolt in jaws. There are some bolt on jaws on EBay right now. But they are askign $600 starting bid.

This makes me feel pretty good about the no.24 that I paid $120 for!
