I have this old Newhouse number 3 it has a chain I haven’t seen on others. Anyone know anything about it? And how old is it?

The chain on your Newhouse 3 is a Blake & Lamb lock link chain - not original to the trap. The device on your Newhouse 4 is an anti pan breaker which limits the movement of the pan.
