Well for those of you who don't know me my real name is Rebecca Thompson and I am from the NE Kansas area; about 20 miles NE of Topeka.

I started trapping about 6 years ago and loved it so much I started an ADC business. It was great! Trapping all year long. You miss the mosquitos and ticks and watching for poisonous snakes and snapping turtles when you just trap the winter. laugh

About 2 years ago, my Dad was officially diagnosed with Alzhiemer's disease. Since I had been living with Mom and Dad for a few years, and not having a family of my own to care for, it just came natural to me to help care for them. The state took Dad's driver's license away (which all of you should say "Thank you" that our family loves your family that much! smile ) Also, Mom's vision does not let her drive. It is a great honor to be able to repay my parents this way!

Since I was going to be needed for the family I felt that the best thing I could do was get a regular job with better hours and more guaranteed income than trapping was supplying.

I have missed ALL of you so much! cry The community of helpful advice is great. The wittty repartee gives you the feeling of an extended family and ... 'scuse me all. I need to go puke ... sick

No! I mean it! You are a bunch of great trappers who are willing to give advice and help a fellow or a gal out of a tight spot.

Thank you!

So what are all of you doing? Vinke, Paul, LT, others... let's hear it.

Ms. Rat,
I turned by business over to my son about a year ago. Not the target beaver, but here is what he caught in a #660 body grip trap today. I don’t remember ever catching these when growing up in Salina during the 1950s.

I always enjoyed this post from you! http://www.trapperman.com/forum/ubbthrea...tml#Post2002713 .

I wish you the best of success in all that you do. Don’t forget about us.

Sweet LA!
You left Kansas too soon. Just before I stopped trapping I got a call from the Shawnee County Animal Control asking if I knew how to catch a gator/croc that was in one of the state lakes. After I stopped laughing, I told them I had no idea. Of course that was long before History Channels "Swamp People".

So did you skin out the gator or is one that small worth the effort?

Wimpy people gargle with mouth wash. Real trappers gargle with skunk essence!

It was released on the same property.

Ron, I have to ask - did that 660 kill the 'gator?

Re: Hey all! What' happening - 06/07/12 01:11 PM

Dave,
No, 'gators are very tough critters. I have caught a few, incidental to beaver trapping, in bodygrip traps and snares. Never had one appear to have been injured by the experience. We have a few state licensed alligator trappers scattered around the state. They are the only ones permitted to work with nuisance 'gators. We do now have a very limited alligator season in some specifically designated waters.

Just like TheRat...shows up and Trapperman goes blank.....just kiddin' Rattie !
( funny how that happened though...)

Still doing ADC work 12-17 hours a day...still training a few students each year....still trying to run my ADC Network, (which your a member by the way)....and if theres any time for sleeping,
( you know I eat on the run) that's what I try to do... laugh

Some days, I just feel like I want to lay down in the grass and go to sleep. My back hurts, my ankles are swollen, my knees hurt and my stomach hates me for all the crap I eat from gas stations. You know theres nothing good to eat on the road !

Hey LT!
Only 12-17 hours! My, you are slowing down! laugh

All those aches and pains , I feel for you. Wait no that is my knees, back, ankles, and stomach moaning and groaning! Getting older is litterally a pain.

It is interesting that working like you are gives new meaning to "Blanced Diet". It comes to mean that you can keep your knees on the steering wheel, a sandwich in one hand and a drink in the other and still talk on the cell phone!

I would say that one of the "perks" I get to enjoy as an office employee now is air conditioning. However, I am usually walking so much, so fast, I start sweating and never actually get to feel the cooler air.
