Looking for new bullets - 07/31/12 01:33 AM

I have just bought a new 22-250 and I have had one before and used the 40 grain hornaday v-max bullet and every now and then on a quartering shot the coyote would get knocked down and run off or would have a big hole blown in the hide. So I am wondering if any of you guys have a recommendation on a bullet that performs better. Thanks guys

Im not a huge V Max fan I prefer Sierra Blitz Kings however in my 22-250 I have found the perfect fur load with the V Max. I shoot 24gr of IMR 4198 with a 55gr V Max and have never had one exit even a ground hog. Its a Savage 112V with a 1 in 14 heavy bull. Cronogragh says 3150fps, so not even close to what you would think in 250 performance levels but its a tack driver. Its topped with a 4-12X40 VXII with a 200yd zero, its more or less a one hole gun. You will not have to sew with that load, not even a thin hided red...I promise you!

I sold a few coyotes last year for 70 a piece and had a couple of early fox that brought 75 a piece.
