Squirrel Set Up

Squirrel Set Up - 07/17/13 01:49 AM

Thought I would share a typical squirrel set up for me.

You can see the entry point in this first picture.

I used two of AES Heavy Duty traps pushed up tight and anchored.

I use a small peice of hardware cloth to make sure the squirrels can not sneak out the side.

This is basically the exact set up I use for raccoons also but obviously on a much larger scale.

What about those that are outside and may be trying to get back into the soffit entrance? I always set a multi-catch to catch those inside and at least one to catch any trying to re-enter.

Might depend on the time of day that he set
Up the job, if set up a squirrel job at around a
Hour or closer to sunset I just set a positive
Set and leave but of I'm forced to do it during
The day then i set one each way!

Thanks for taking the time to post this. Very helpful to me being new to the biz.

Yep, the sets are great and one or two baited cages would make it perfect. LA and Blackdog nailed it.

Baited cages are on the gutter.

About 75% of the time some squirrels are not home.

Didn't think I needed to show a picture of them.

Yeah Nate, I figured that but I get kind of anal when our guys "forget" to set them.

Pretty much a standard set up for us to set for in and out animals living in structure. Just have to have it happen a couple of times to realize you need to do that kind of set up.

Like to take squirrels, skunks, chucks, coon, beaver, most everything either coming or going in double door traps, like you would use a conibears, or any trap that can take them coming from either direction. Works very well, sometimes only a few minutes, and no bait needed.

Colony traps or excluders are the way to go with squirrel jobs. Single catch traps will only catch one animal at a time and you only have so much room on a roof or soffit to set so many traps.
