Bird Extraction. - 10/22/14 02:28 AM

I work for an electrician part time, and he has some problems with grackles and starlings in his barn and lean-to. He has a couple of those balloon type things with the big eyes on them, and they worked the whole summer, but in the past month they've ignored them and been in the barn making a mess all over.
Any suggestions on what to do to keep them out?
Thanks!

There's lots of bird solutions and they are all expensive. Most of the time you spend hours on a quote only to have your clients die from sticker shock.

There was an article in Pest Management Magazine that reviewed the sales $ per activity. There is big $ in birds.....which means someone is buying it. Not to mention the couple manufacturers....

I would think by now the grackles would be gone.... but starlings are forming their large winter groups and roosting in protected areas at night. Netting is the best (and often only) solution for structures with easy access by birds. Net below the trusses/rafters so they can't get to the ledges/perches.

As Dave mentioned..... bird control is a BIG business. I've done some really large netting jobs for commercial clients. Truck docks, storage areas, canopies.

A lot is commercial and dominated by pest companies. Got to pick up your game to get them.
