bbasher,
1. What do you consider to be "large numbers of birds"?
2. Is this a one time job or do you expect it to be on going.

Many types and sizes of traps can be used to trap starlings. WCS has several- http://www.wildlifecontrolsupplies.com/removal/Bird_Traps.html
A GOOGLE search will bring up many designs.

One design that has received many favorable comments is
Starling Trap Plans- http://icwdm.org/handbook/birds/EuropeanStarlings.asp Scroll down to TRAPPING for basic plans for building a starling trap. It is very similar to the Bird Barrier© starling trap.

This will be an ongoing project but I expect to see more starlings during the spring and fall. Obviously I googled trap designs but I was hoping for some first hand feedback from the folks on here.
