Squirrel?

Do they make anything to spray on wood to keep squirrels from chewing? I have a friend whom just had their log cabin refinished and the squirrels are chewing the porch railings up. Must be something in the finish that they like. Trapping isn't a good option since the cabin sits in the middle the woods, would be never ending.

They sell taste averse repellents that contain cayenne pepper, capsaicin powder and other elements. They are usually spray on materials. I am sure you can make up a batch yourself at home and see how it works for him.

Squirrels are chewers. Only way to stop them is simmer them with dumplings. I have found that they LOVE hot sauce. You might have better luck with some kind of commercial product with ingredients not readily available to the public.
