How common is it for a two year old beaver to be solitary his first year away from his home colony?

It all depends on how far it was forced away from other beaver on it maiden voyage away from its birthplace. The farther they are pushed, the longer it takes to find a mate.

Mate could have died unexpectedly; car, bobcat, etc.

2 1/2 years is when they mate for the first time, generally speaking.

Just curious 52 Carl on how much a 2 1/2 year old beaver would weigh in your neck of the woods. I assume that would be about a December beaver?

At least 30# I'd guess. Maybe more depending on available food.
