Truck Storage Ideas - 01/04/21 04:44 PM

Hey all,

Currently looking at options to increase storage and be more organized on the truck.

I have an F150 with a Leer cap. The cap has a ladder rack on top and one side has a tool box.

Last year, I made a bed slide storage out of wood with some roller bearings. It works and I like it, but looking to graduate from wood because it gets dirty back there with animals in traps.

I'm looking at the decked storage drawer system or a bedslide. I like the idea of the bed slide, but it doesn't really add storage space. I've also found a product called extendobed that looks really nice, but comes with a pretty hefty price tag.

I'll post some pictures later, but I was just interested in seeing some other's ideas. I know there is no way to get everything we would possibly need on the truck at once, but want to see what can be done to improve it.

Thanks,

Invest in a cap with win-doors that flip up making access from the sides a breeze.
Best thing I ever did when in the ADC biz.

Since I'm the guy that has to fix all the broken cages, I have come to the conclusion that pickup trucks were made for that purpose. ( We have 15 pickups. I drive a van )

A cap with storage bays on each side has worked well for me.

I'd love to try out a Knapheide service body, lol.

There's an electrician with a old ambulance running around here. I bet it works great. Lots of storage space in the back...

I've also thought about the knapheide body style or something similar. I think that would be great. Something like this... whistle but the price would make me sick sick

Here is the cap and bed system I have now. It does work, but I just wanted to see other ideas. I use tongs to pull things forward that can't be reached in the back.

The bed pictures are from last night when I was cleaning it out. I'd have to completely take out the wood system to get all the nastiness out from beneath it which would be a pain in the neck..

Here's the best pest control truck setup I've seen.

I'd love to build a seal up/wildlife truck out of this:

Thanks EatenByLimestone!

That pest control truck was really planned out. That is a sweet rig.

That knapheide is also awesome. If it's possible to get everything ever needed onto a truck I think that would be the truck to start with.

Box trucks would do it too, but then you could run into DOT compliance.

Here's Ron Paulk's truck. He's a home builder, so his needs aren't exactly like ours, but his organization offers a lot of inspiration for what we do.

Makes me want to buy an enclosed trailer and get to work lol. Very cool system and I like how he avoids using the drawer slides.

So, to continue this conversation...

I found a decked storage system on Facebook marketplace the other day for a good price. Snatched it up.

So far I really love it. The drawers are huge and slide well.

That looks good.
What is there to prevent crud, mud, blood, etc from going down in the drawers?
Since we talked, I went the other way making a shelf that rests on the rails and covers half of the bed.
I will post a photo later.

The drawers are waterproof as long as they are closed. There are some small pockets in the corners that open to the top that probably aren’t as waterproof but I don’t plan on using them regularly. Just going to put straps and misc. items in them. Videos from Decked show them spraying a hose on top and nothing in the drawers getting wet.
