Good day on the gopher line.

My personal record of 29 pocket gophers today. I guess it could be 30 as yesterday I showed a neighbor kid how to trap these guys. I showed him how I do it by making one set, then watched him make a set. He called me today to say the trap I had set connected but told him it was his trap so it was his gopher. I'm still happy with 29.

the ones that are moving in. Amazed can't figure out where they are coming from but all of the sudden there is a new mound.

Agree. With the dry summer we all thought they had perished or moved on. But after that last rain they are popping up all over the place and my phone won't stop ringing. A local farmer mowed a 200 acer field thats been in CRP for the past 25 years and it's exploded with gopher mounds. I ran out of traps yesterday and when his neighbor found out, gave me another 2 dozen to help out. Been on that field for two days and have 47 gophers but have only covered half the field. When you drive by you see nothing but orange flags. Rumor has it the flags are surveyor markers for a new housing project. Don't know where they got that idea from.....

Some but I average around 500 a year and don't need that much bait.

Mostly DK's with the occasional #0 LS. I finished with a total of 82 in 5 days. I know I didn't get them all but the LO is happy!
