raccoons in the attic - eviction fluid

raccoons in the attic - eviction fluid - 04/20/22 12:30 AM

I have a job with a stubborn raccoon. I've blocked exits and she tears new ones in the soffit, etc. I am leaning towards trying some eviction scent and a couple of trail cameras to see if I can harass her enough to take her kits away to a secondary den. I have searched the attic in vain looking for the nest. Any suggestions on what predatory scent works best? I think coyote would do the trick.

Thanks, Wally

You can buy Raccoon Eviction Fluid from Wildlife Control Supplies and it works. I Use Raccoon Boar Gland scent and mix with Weasel Gland and then mix with Synthetic food grade grease. I think the Website where you order tells you tips on how to use it. Don't get it on your hands.

Eviction fluid seems to work best when the pups are young in their first few weeks after birth. Some cases if the application isn't thorough enough and she is stubborn and feels secure there, she may not take them out. I have done 3 evictions in the last couple of weeks with success on all 3 so far this spring. It is early here still, the pups I could see didn't have their eyes open yet. Maybe a few days to a week old.

With today's technology, placing a trail cam if possible, pointed to the suspected entry point(s) can verify if she moves the pups.

Raccoon jobs I never ever set foot into the attic until I have mama caught on the outside. Learned that lesson the hard way when one buried herself and kittens even deeper into an inaccessible area. If she won't go into a cage she gets a 220 over the hole. Only then do I go in after the kittens.
I've only had to resort to eviction fluid once. An attic with no access, upper floor ceiling followed the rafters, and inaccessible roof for a 220. Fortunately I could pinpoint the kits and was able to go into the knee wall crawl and slide some pex tube into the area behind them and using smaller pex shoved some fluid soaked cotton balls in there. She and the kittens were gone that night.

And a gallon of raccoon urine is only about $25.00 wink

You figure it out

Noted Lt Grey. Was just at house for insurance inspection and that guy evicted his Raccoons with Coyote Urine. After they tore up his house. Often simple is better.
