Live beaver traps? - 04/22/22 09:35 PM

Just picked up a used tomahawk live beaver trap. Replaced the cables and got it working the way it should. Anyone know where I could pick up some replacement chain-link mesh? Could I actually use chain-link fencing? The stuff on the trap looks like it's a lighter weight chain-link then you would find on fencing. Not really wanting to buy from the manufacturer as it would probably pretty expensive.

What is the diameter of the wire on the trap?

Here is info on wire gauge sizes commonly used in chain link fencing.

Quote
A number 6 gauge is .192 inches, while a large 12-1/2 gauge is .099 inches. The number 9 gauge is .148 inches and the 11-1/2 is .113 inches. That makes the difference between the 11-1/2 and 9 gauges .018 inches.

9 and 11 1/2 gauge seem to be the most common used in the fencing industry.

I haven't put the calipers on it but if I had to guess I'd say its 12.5 gauge.
