Dumb barn rat question?

What is the difference between a juvenile Norway rat and an adult roof rat? I caught a fairly small rat in a snap trap. I'm just curious what the difference is. Thank you for your time.

Various sizes of roof rats. Notice that the tail is longer than the body. On a norway rat the tail is shorter than the body.
