Beer and red meat can cause flare-ups too. Eat lots of celery and cherries. I can't take the cherries so I take a black cherry extract I get from Puritan's Pride. A friend of my mother-in-law's husband keeps cherry pie filling in the fridge for when he feels it coming on. He just eats the whole container. Swears by it. confused

My brother used to be a diet Mountain Dew junkie and he got the gout. He stopped drinking the stuff and it eased off. His doctor says it could have been the citrus in it causing the gout but his triglycerides are normal. Gout is sure some strange stuff that's for sure. eek

Have you been tested for hyperparathroidism? I had the same symptoms and my urologist told me about it. I did some research and it said that kidney stones sometimes form in your feet before moving to your kidneys. My feet were killing me for several yars before I passed my last stones. After they passed my feet are all better.

I agree, black cherry juice! My husband has chronic gout and the only way to keep it at bay is via diluted black cherry juice He buys it in concentration form online and when he feels the hint of a flare, he starts sipping that. He was on three gout meds and is now down to one because of the black cherry juice. Good luck!

If you have psoriasis it may not be gout, it could be arthritis caused by psoriasis.

After taking a med for high blood pressure, I got gout that was one of the side effects of the medicine. Had it many times very painful. I did some research and found out it was the medicine, quit taking the medicine and it never came back. A friend of mine got gout alot went to a natural DR. and he told him to take vitamin C worked for him. He takes 1000mg a day and never gets gout any more.
