Coronavirus - 03/23/20 03:09 AM

Odd COVID-19 hasnt't been discussed at all on this Health Forum. Anyone hear of any trappers getting it? They don't seem to be testing around here.

It seems worse in the South lately, than here up north.

Let's get a COVID-19 thread going on this Health Forum.

Covid 19 is a scam

I don't know, but I'm glad someone responded to this thread. No doubt Covid has been 1 of the most important health topics of the past year.

The obesity problem will probably be even worse than before, due to all these people quarantining on their couch. Then again, many folks aren't out eating greasy restaurant food like they used to.

Yes, I got Covid.
Scam? Not really.
Death sentence? Depends on who you are.
I will say I thought I was invincible. I had been working when this virus started back last year or before, depends on who you believe.
I’m 53, in pretty good health. Lift weights, run, and can keep up with a 6 year old 100% boy, lol.
My wife started running a fever Jan 26 and tested positive on my Birthday the 27th. She isn’t in bad health, but nowhere as fit as I am. I felt horrible thinking I was asymptotic and had given it to her. Turns out I didn’t. Jan 29th I started running a very high fever and the very next day I tested positive.
To be honest, it felt like a bad sinus infection for the both of us. Just pressure in my forehead and a headache. It wasn’t until a few days later that the “symptoms” started.
Started getting seriously congested and tummy issues. Also about the time I noticed I’d lost my sense of taste and smell. Sweetness was there to an extent but everything taste salty. Smell is a hopeless cause and to my understanding could last months.
I have my good days and bad days. Sleep is apparently not needed or allowed with this virus cause it ain’t happening. Same for my wife. Other than the sleep issue and her being ill as a hornet (and she doesn’t know why) she is perfectly fine.
I can go from being congested to the point of having to breathe with my mouth, to perfectly clear like nothings wrong.
My “10 days” is up Tuesday and I can return to work then. I’ve been trapping since this started and will continue. It may take me a little longer to make a set from running out of breath, but I’m getting it done. If we could just go more than 3 days without rain it would really be nice, lol.

For those nay’sayers, I hope you don’t get it and if you do, I hope it’s as good to you as it’s been to me. I can see where it could get a lot worse.

Thanks for sharing. Hopefully you get better asap. It's been pretty bad around here. ~25% of my office has had it now. Those that get it tell me it is not a hoax.

It is very unique because of all the different symptoms and severity of the symptoms. It shows no preference to overall health either. I know a young guy (early 30’s) who ended up in the hospital and just short of being put on a vent. This guy is the epitome of “perfect health” but yet he ended up in the hospital and I didn’t. And like a I stated, my wife has had worse colds than what she had and her health is nowhere near as “good” as mine.

Re: Coronavirus - 02/12/21 06:34 PM

Not that anyone reads this topic, but decided to give an update.

My wife had a spot on her lungs a month or so ago and they wanted to relook at it to verify it was growing. So she goes in and gets her X-rays done a couple of days ago.
They called today to inform her that the spot is fine and hasn’t grown, but they are in an uproar that she has pneumonia. They said her lungs look horrible and can’t understand why she hadn’t been to a Doctor. She informed them she had Covid within the last month and felt fine. Neither of us were told to follow up with a Doctor unless the symptoms returned. She had no idea and wouldn’t have known if she didn’t have the appointment to look at that spot again.
This could explain the massive headaches I only get at night...after the gym and 2-3 miles walks. I’ve been trying to “build” my endurance back up and get back to my normal self. Instead, I’m trying to kill myself and my body is trying to tell me to slow down. At least that’s what her Doc explained.
The only good news is our lungs will supposedly “heal themselves” but her Doc is sending her antibiotics just in case.

I believe I had it in January of 2019 when it was still new, I had all the symptoms that everyone is talking about. I'm 15, and healthy in my opinion and I was down and out for more than a week. The reason I say its a scam is because at this point the flu has still killed more people in a year. Is it a real illness? Yes. Is it serious? Depends. Is it as bad as its made out to be? No, its overhyped unfortunately.
I hope you and your wife get better soon!! Stay safe

Re: Coronavirus - 02/18/21 02:23 AM

Good points bowhunter.

Wanna Be, a guy I know went in for a xray because Covid was giving him heart trouble. They found his lungs are scarred from Covid. I wonder if that's what you are talking about. I don't know much about lung scarring, but I do hope it is not permanent.

Re: Coronavirus - 02/20/21 03:38 PM

I was “told” that it was unlikely it would be permanent and our bodies will “clear it up” on its own.
As stated, They don’t know what they don’t know.

Re: Coronavirus - 02/28/21 11:30 PM

Well, it’s been 30 days and I still have no smell, can still taste sweet, but now can’t taste salt, lol.
Other than that I’m back to my normal self. Back working out at the gym and can get 2+ miles in on the treadmill with no headaches.
Wife was sick for day after her second shot, but much better on day 3. She has her sense of taste for the most part and can smell some things, but some things she still can’t smell. She’s on day 33.

Thanks for the update. I hope you get better soon. Maybe hold 1 of your skunky lure bottles near her nose to test your wifes sense of smell.

Re: Coronavirus - 03/09/21 04:00 AM

People will probably get the virus if they don't get the vaccine. That's what the doctor said anyway. Although the number of positive cases has plummeted to almost zero around here. Maybe so many people got it that they are currently immune.

Re: Coronavirus - 03/18/21 11:53 AM

7 weeks today and I have taste back for the most part and can smell some things at times.
Back to full workouts and treadmill without headaches or fatigue, other than normal tiredness from the workout.
Wife is pretty much normal as well.

Re: Coronavirus - 03/20/21 02:33 AM

I got the vaccine, well 1 dose so far anyway.

Re: Coronavirus - 03/25/21 01:25 AM

I’m gonna stick with antibodies and hope for the best.

Finally got my taste back and can smell somethings, but things that stink I can’t smell...skunk, feces, urine, etc.

One of the dogs got sick during the night and I cleaned it all up the next morning before running traps. When I got home my wife and older son were up looking for the source of the foul odor, lol. Apparently it woke them up after I had already cleaned it up, lol.

I get my 2nd dose tomorrow
