Age Related Aches and Pains

Age Related Aches and Pains - 08/16/20 02:11 AM

I must be falling apart. It seems that I have had more aches and pains in the last couple years than in all rest of my life. Its probably because of older age and the nature of my work. I am a feral wild hog trapper in Florida. Just turned 71 and have been dragging big heavy steel hog traps and big animals around, loading and unloading, etc. for 50+ years. It is catching up to me. Have had two torn rotator cuffs, broken arm, broken ankle, have been bit and scratched by coons, dogs, and hogs. Now a days, I struggle a little bit to lift or drag the big heavy traps and/or dead animals even stooping down is becoming more difficult. After heavy work my right knee and/or hip throbs like a toothache, sometimes for days. My joints must be deteriorated and the pressure exerted on them when lifting or dragging is causing tissue damage, pain, and inflamation in the knee/hip. Rheumatoid Arthritis?? Maybe. I surely don't want to go thru the replacement surgery, still enjoy my work. I need some more Advil.

Excessive Advil isn't so healthy tho for the kidneys.

If u have rhumetoid arthritis, dr's should be able to diagnose it.

Davexxx, have you tried taking magnesium powder for your muscle pain? It does help me.

No I haven't tried that. Never heard of it. I did start taking Osteo Bi-Flex Joint Health (without Vitamin D) a year or so ago. It did help. It is a heavy dose of Glucosamine and Chondroitin. Still taking it today.

Magnezium oxide or citrate? I've tried both.

Citrate is the better option. I learned this from the clinic that I go to.

I heard that too, years ago, but I can't remember the reason

It's not that easy - every blood test comes back RA, Inflammatory Osteo, or both. the "cure" is the same for both, but it really just holds it off and doesn't cure it. I can remember my granddad talking about "the rheumatizz". It's a real thing, under a more scientific name, but it hurts the same either way it goes. I'm 70 now, and I doubt I'll be able to get back into trapping unless I have a land trap-line where I can drive to most of the sets, and water trapping is right out. I'm not happy about that.

Gabapentin is also good for inflammation
