matrix gland lure - 04/26/18 01:33 PM

ive read in several books about using rotted blood and fish oil combo to stimulate a matrix response im thinking. well lets say im in the process of doing 2 pints of fox glands with fish juice to see if I can get that desired response. My fox glands are the anals, sexorgans, livers/ galls, ear ,and hock glands and bladders ground fine then to a amount of 3.5 cups of gland mass to this a cup of good cat urine 1/2 cup of salt preserved fish juice. its in the rotting process now Any constructive advise on the subject would be greatly appreciated thanks

I have had good success with a similar mixture that you have identified. I used only coyote anals and rear foot pads for my gland portion, but not sure how much that matters. I added some coyote urine, skunk oil, sun rendered fish oil, and blood to get the right consistency. I am not sure it worked as a "matrix" lure but it worked on cats, coyotes and fox. You can even add a drop or two of skunk essence to the mix and kick it up a notch.

I've got some fish oil and yote blood aging together right now to try with some glands. Just out of curiosity Tony is three a reason for using fish juice instead of fish oil?

I didn't have any blood other than what the fox livers produced. lol I m tryin to cut a corner it might end up compromising the whole batch but I figured id try it on a small batch! nothing ventured nothing gained ive got rotted yote blood but figured with fox glands that would be a bigger mistake

Yes fish juice not the oil, gives it a musky smell, I go with red fox urine but cat is better for those greys.
Don't go messing it up with beaver castor, unless your making a rub lure here are you? But some good rat glands get a nod though.

I also have some coyote urine with coyote blood aging together for a side ingredient. Spilled some on my hand today making some lure. Very strong odor that has some very enduring properties to it. Washed hands three times and look shower and still can't shake the odor. No snuggling wife tonight. Lol

I've not done any thing with those fox glands since that post but they smell amazing! I stir them once a week to keep the color uniform. The natural skunkyness of the fox glands are starting to shine thru! YES Sir I couldn't agree more yote blood and fish juice aged for a extended period has a very premiating odor. Ive got a pint that's been aging for one year. Not the smell one would expect. But definitely a smell that attachs to every thing
