got wild plums here everybody calls sand plums. pick them a couple weeks before they are fully ripe and make jelly. don't waste it trapping. its the best jelly you can get your hands on. make a delicious wine too. let them get good and ripe for wine

if you want a good coon bait you ought to be out seining up crawdads.

What Danny Clifton said. Wild plums rock. Every year the kids and I go pick a bunch, like three of four gallons worth, and by the time we go to cook with them, we only have enough for one pie and one batch of jam because they ate so many on the way home and during picking.

Kansas has them everywhere. I catch many cats in and around plum thickets. I have always wanted to get back there when the fruit comes on to pick a mess to make jam and some pies with but hasn't happened as of yet. I hear from friends out that way that everything eats them.

Everyone can give you all the "right" answers and "best" this and that, but without testing, it's like throwing darts in the dark with hopes of getting a hit. Trail cams and the materials your interested in using will be the tell tale sign. There are tons of "formulas" out there that are designed to take the trappers money. They are posted everywhere on trapping sites with all kinds of ingredients to attract critters. Just because someone is trapping the same target animal as you are, doesn't mean it will have the same effect when it comes down to specific ingredients. Dog/Cat food and grains are a no brainer, they will attract every critter in the woods. But for specific ingredients imo your results won't necessarily be the same.

Testing will save you a lot of time and money. That is how you will find out what those animals are interested in.

Test test test and test...rain snow or shine.

I already make jams and wine out of them .I have a mess of them in the yard and thinking if they where to be use for the trapping world. I know I have something that take the pits out of them and then open the pits and eat the inside of them.It is the 2nd to 3rd year that been going on. I use the wild plums as back up for when the other plum tree I have dose not do good to eat for the year.

The road next to a local plum thicket in ditch has little piles crap full of plum seeds from all kinds of visitors to those ripe plums.
