Success stories - 02/05/19 01:38 AM

Evening guys and gals. Not much going on in the lure forum so I thought maybe I'd see how things went for everyone. Anyone have any good potions that came together for u? Or any bad train wrecks in the lure shed you want to share? I'll go first.

I had made some fermented eggs to try, I'd tried them in a couple formulations and didn't have much success. I was actually starting to give up on them until I had read something (not on here) that made a light bulb go off in my head. So I went another direction with them and it worked well. Test holes would get dug out 3 or 4 times. Some where even dug that had not been relured and had 3 rain/snow events that would fill holes with water. The bait performed well with traps in front of also. This is my first year actually trying some of my own stuff on the trap line. Anyone else do any good with something new?

Worse thing that happened for me was Bob shared with me after the fact that it wasnt very smart to grind full skunk pods.... it did make a good product though..

Taught my son how to make my bait & lure for groundhogs and used his batch exclusively on the adc line. Afte he was done the prep work, I told him the quantities of each ingredient that needed to be added, he measured them all out and then put the drill to work. Lots of trap checks that brought many smiles. He has the patience and puts in a lot of time and effort into helping out. That's one of my success stories regarding a potion that came together well.

I like it. I wish I had gotten started at lure making when I was that age.

TDHP can I ask...does he earn an allowance/salary for his work? I love seeing young folks learn the ways of trapping/woodsmanship/fishing/shooting

Your son is a blessed fella to have a Dad that gets him involved..

Ty, I do what I can to keep their interest in outdoor activities. They get a weekly allowance for chores around the house, and make extra when they help out in the "shop".
