Persimmon Oil - 08/16/19 12:57 AM

I've had luck with persimmon oil in my bait. I have been thinking of adding it to a paste bait just for some extra Intrigue... does anyone know if this oil is palatable to animals? Anyone every taste it?

I purchase mine from FnT

What is the process to extract persimmon oil? We have a huge crop of persimmons this year, many are full size now should be ripening within a month or so.

Mark June, Dave Plueger, and several others on here have talked about the benefit of adding persimmon oil to their canine and coon baits. Experts can be wrong, but I’d bank on these two being right.

Distilling is the best way to make the oil. It is however much easier and economical to buy the essential oil to add to a base or bait of your choice.

^^this....Google is your friend!

Paste?.....preserve like mom or grandma made jelly/jam.....with Pectin or other fruit preserving agent.

If using pectin as a preservative you must use lots of sugar to active this function properly. Without the sugar it will continue to work and sour over time. if using as a one season product I wouldn't worry about a preservative.

Longer term shelf storage requires a different process in terms of preservation and mold concerns.

Been using it for years as stand alone lure and in my baits. My persimmon taste lure is my best seller to the adc field.
