Tincturing Asafoetida

Has anyone used different solvents and found varying final odors?

I’ve really only ever used alcohol but have heard other solvents work. I guess I am wondering if the end product all pretty much smells the same,

I also use Diethyl Phthalate. I can't distinguish a difference in the asafoetida odor between using that and alcohol.

Thank you Paul. Just curious if different solvents change the odor like they do on some other items.

The tincture on the left is done with DEP and the one on the right is done with 100 proof vodka. The one with vodka is fresh, and that's why it's cloudy. When done its a pale yellow color.
