Deer meat tincture - 12/13/19 04:06 AM

How could I craft a tincture from deer meat?

Can I just submerge deer scraps in vodka?

I want to make a freeze proof liquid that smells like fresh deer meat

Any ideas welcome

Thx

i have not tried this.

why couldn't you dissolve some sodium benzoate in water. then mix the water 50/50 with glycerine. put it in a pressure cooker with a big chunk of bone in deer meat and pressure it for 20 minutes. use the broth.

Would it smell like fresh meat or cooked meat though?

I don’t know

cooked. but just like tainted meat, cooked meat is more appealing.

I canned some deer meat and it sure smells like it’d work.

Perhaps someone that understands tinctures better than me will chime in here . I’m very interested to know if the end result is more volume of a product or as you asked , a liquid that smells like the product your trying to produce .

I did a google search and couldn’t find anything on tincturing meat . Everything I found was about tinctures involving flowers or herbs.

i think i will try the experiment i postulated above. im going to cut some hide meat and bone from a roadkill deer. put all in a pressure cooker with distilled water. add sb and mp after the water cools down. toss the solids. a good liquid bait would be a big plus in lots of places. especially for cats arounf packrats. packrats will drag off anything they can. a scent applied right into the dirt should stay there. i have fooled around with liquid bait before and my results were not great but i was not using a meat broth either

once you stop the taint with SB you might could tincture then.

try a small batch at first.
