Not sure how relevant this is to lure making, but I used some preserved cantaloupe to catch beaver. I had used some peeled sticks to attract the beaver and he sprung the trap. I figured he wouldn't work the set again, but I had to remove it. I cut up this cantaloupe last spring in a combination of cheap vodka, sugar and salt. Its still as orange as when I cut it up and still has that cantaloupe smell. Anyway I put half a dozen pieces on the banks sloped edge and added some guide sticks. He was at the bottom of the drowner cable when I arrived to check the traps. Golf course people are very happy to have him gone and I actually learned something new.

Them smartened up beavers need thinking out of the box to catch sometimes. Good job
