Tested it and visited with another guy on here who was trying it. I'd love to have five gallons it to play with but it's a LOT of to get just a few ounces. If u have a source for real quantities we could work something out.

I have access to a guy that butchers. So this weekend I hope to venture out and see what I can come up. I know from some deer bones I cracked open my dogs loved it.

It's worth getting if u can. I think it would make a great lure base or bait.

What should I do with fresh collected marrow? I have 8 oz. collected. What is recommended to preserve it?

You are a little on ur own here. I've tested it fresh and was impressed with the results. I've visited with another guy that was using it also and was pleased with the results. Maybe he will chime in. The stuff I collected about 9 months ago is as collected and has surprisingly held up really well. I just can't get enough volume of it to make it worth pursuing farther. I do like SB as a preservative if u want to go that route. Good luck.

Using the SB do you suggest using it as a powder or maybe mixing it with some water to make a paste? I know when I was done today the dogs were there to clean up anything I didn't get cleaned up. Even licked the hammer handle off.

Big patches I like dissolving in warm water, smaller batches I feel I can get a good mix without dissolving.

To me, bone marrow and brains are peas in a pod. Predators love them. Why do you think bones are so attractive to predators -- because the marrow has leached into the bone structure and they chew the bone to get access to the marrow remnants.

I mix brains and marrow in my canine baits and they work great. I know Paul Dobbins added brains or marrow to one of his lures a few years ago and the results were very positive.

The old government trappers used brains/marrow mixed with beaver castor as their pet M-44/cyanide gun lure.

I use brains in one of my lures and one of my baits. Brains has several up sides beyond just the attraction.
