Fall digging - 06/22/18 01:10 AM
I am new to all of this, but fall dug roots weigh more than spring dug roots. When do most people start digging for the fall? What time do they start to weigh more? All input is appreciated, thanks!

There is a season in PA for ginseng and the seeds must be planted in the spot you dig the root.

Yeah I know for ginseng. My season starts September 1st. I meant for other roots such as black cohosh.

find a buyer first, then you dig almost all plants by its life cycle.when a plant dies, sap runs back to the root, helpin make it through its hibernation.also you wanna let seeds fall before digging insuring a future crop.the buyer you find should be asked exactly how he wants the root and do it exactly that way.enjoy yourself.
