Collectible Sterling Traps For Sale - 10/18/21 04:53 PM

I list here four of the early variations in the MJ 600 traps made by Glen Sterling. These traps are some of the most uncommon of Sterling's traps. They show some of the different chains and rings used in the early years along with the "Sterling" swivels that he used on all of his traps. The first trap listed here is the first marked Sterling 600. This trap has the Sterling painted pan with Pat Pend in the center of the pan. The trap was used some and the painted label is a bit worn and smeared. One of the scarcest Sterlings--200.00(SOLD). The second trap listed is also the second variation in the painted pan and does not have the PAT PEND on the pan. Glen told me that although they intended to patent his trap but when he found how expensive that would be he chose not to go forward with patenting and also removed the words from the pan label. This trap is new unused but has been coated with floor wax to prevent rusting(removable with soap and water if desired)-175.00.(1 left) The third trap is a special order Sterling made for O'Gorman with a large expanded pan. The records indicate that only 8 dozen were made with these large unmarked pans. This example was dyed and waxed but used little or not at all. It has a cavalry picket pin attachment for staking--200.00( SOLD) The last trap pictured is again a special order trap made under contract with the US Federal Government. Records again indicate 8 dozen made of which the majority were sent to a federal office in North Dakota and the remainder to an office in Oregon. This trap was likely prepared for use but never actually set as the pan shows no rust--200.00(SOLD)..

I accept personal checks and paypal F&F. Shipping is 15.00 for one trap or several. I have more than one of the #2 and #4 traps. The nice O'Gorman pictured above is sold. I have another that is used with rust and not great condition for 125(SOLD).
