Hi!
We are allowed to trap foxes with live traps... dead traps are not allowed... As a muskrat trapper of the state, i am also allowed to trap muskrats and nutria... besides mammels we can also trap a few birds like crows and jackdaws...

Waidman, what type traps do you use for nutria and muskrat?

We have a very short list of what we can trap here in Ireland. Fox in live cages and snares. Mink, rabbit, and grey squirrel in kill traps. Thats about it, apart from a few pest species of birds.

Hey Eddie,
Mosty conibears for muskrats, and live traps for nutria... but we are allowed to use conibears on them as well For muskrat we also use a type of trap which we call a 'grondklem' ... it's a triangular shaped trap which has two horizontal wires which triggers the trap...
Besides these trapps we also use a lot of colony trapps in all sorts of shapes and sizes...

Hi Waidman. I found a picture of the grondklem. Looks interesting. Have you any video's or pictures of how to set the trap?

Just happened upon this video from 1960 Germany, where they seem to be using this very trap for Muskrat. Strangely enough, the footage at the start of the clip seems to show Nutria, and not Muskrat.
