Bobcat tail

Bobcat tail - 01/02/18 09:52 PM

New to trapping/skinning bobcats. I caught a cat this morning and when I went to strip the tail, it ripped cleanly off. So now the tail is short about 2 inches. I have two options, try to sew it back on after splitting it, or just leave it detached. I read a post on here about this happening with a coyote and everyone kind of said to leave it off and it wont affect fur price at auuction that much. I'm not sure if the same holds true for bobcat. Thoughts?

IMO the only effect on price would be for taxidermy.

okay. I know the legs have value for their spots, but I'm still not sure about the tail.

I sew back any tails that pop off.It only takes about 30 seconds to whip 5 or 6 stitches in it,so why not.
