how do you guys handle skinning frozen tails?
It was so cold today that the tips of 2 raccoon tails were frozen for the last 2 -3 inches.
I found it a pain in the butt to skin them, and they did not pull with a tail stripper! I knifed them as far as possible and in the end ripped both tales by a bit. I wasn't too worried about it, as I have been told the tales do not matter all that much for the value of the skin. (if there is such a thing to begin with) Unless you're making a trapper hat, there's really not much use to it. Anyway, I thought maybe dipping it in a hot water bath for a minute would have helped.
Wondering what other people do.

Boco will probably have a heart attack but I would just leave that last 2" or so of tail bone In the tail. Don't worry about It there's not enough bone to worry about.

All my animals are frozen.I thaw them out before skinning, tails and all.If you try to skin frozen fur, well, you found out what happens.
If the last few inches of a tail is frost dried, from being frozen for too long,do like beave said and cut the bone off where it is dry and leave it in,or just trim it off short.
