Just got a new fleshing beam and knife. This will be my first year fleshing coyotes. What should I use for a surface finish on the beam?

Nothing, just use it. But if it's wood and you would like a little extra protection from nicks and cuts you could fiberglass it.

If its wood i would put a very light coat of boiled linseed oil on it to keep bacteria from getting into the grain.

I rubbed my fleshing beam down with turtle wax it seals the wood and the water, blood and fat just roll off anything that stays wipe off with a rag. At the end of the season litely sand it down and apply more turtle wax to help preserve it.
