Seam?

Let's say you're making a headband for a hat and despite all options, there has to be a seam on the front dead center. What kind of stitch do you use, and how do you flatten it? Pics are welcome (and preferred), lol. Thanks!



This is what I did.

Use a whip stitch-tight but not too deep.Then flatten with a scissor handle or something rounded so the sewn edges butt up to each other.
It is much easier with thin leather than thick stiff leather.
It is better to have the fur flowing in the same direction to hide a seam.fur crashing together is the worst.
Also much easier to hide a seam with two pieces of fur where the fur is flowing away from each other if the pelt is fully prime with maximum underfur support.
Almost impossible to hide a seam with flat fur especially when crashing or flowing away from each other.
For the seam in your pic,get a slicker brush and brush the fur in the seam area.

I ended up replacing about 5 inches in the front, just couldn't get it to lay right.

Yea,that looks much better.
When designing articles you have to be cognizant of what fur goes where and the direction of flow of the fur in the article.
Also keep the character of the fur in mind when placing your pattern before cutting.
