I'm finishing up my set, all done, I stand up and drop my lure. It hits the pan, trap snaps breaking my lure bottle lure, dirt and glass went flying everywhere. My only saving grace was the lure, Bonanza, is thick enough I was able to pick it all up along with the glass.

Buy the time I made it to the truck I was laughing about it, not so much when it first happened though.

Lol no that’s never happened to me. But I have had traps fire off on their own just as I finished making the set and ready to stand up. Poof! Sand right in my face! I hate that!

I love the feel of sharp shards of wax slivers in the eyes when one sets off prematurely

I have found a few times that the worst part of accidentally catching myself in one of my traps was all the dirt in my eyes

This is why I quit carrying lure bottles in my shirt pocket, lean over the set, bottle falls out onto the trap pan and gland lure in the mouth is rather unpleasant.

Lol, my first this year. Trap fired just as I finished smoothing things out. Caught the tip of my finger and gloves. Makes me a little more cautious now for sure.

Catching your fingers in your trap can sting a bit but it really smarts when you but the end of the chain! eek

I always pull my fingers up in a fist inside of my gloves. Just using the fingers only of the gloves to smooth out the dirt/ peat

Got a scar on my lower lip. Trap was set with waxed dirt but was still frozen down. Chipping out the frozen dirt outside the jaws when it fired and threw a big chunk splitting my lip. I have had dirt thrown in my eyes before too. Safety glasses are a good idea.

The joy of dirt snow and ice in the face is always fun.
Caught my fingers a couple of times. Catching the nail is always fun.
