What sets do most use? I have been researching but I have not came up with much. I thought I would give it a shot while in TX with the Rancher.

Hopefully Bfflobo will chime in here I know its a long shot Whit17 but the rancher called me and said they have been seeing a large male. I was going to hunt hog and maybe a nice deer if I see a real nice one. But a lion has been on the very top of my list forever. I understand it can take 20-40 days for them to come around again but I have some MB 750 Wolfers on their way

For what it may be worth I've caught a fair number over the years in walk thru lynx cubbies using snares and lynx lure only.
The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

Caught 8 or 9 by accident in NM in the past 12 yrs in bobcat and coyote sets. And by the way a 1.75 Victor will hold a 150# cat! PS- mtn lions shred trapped yotes, yotes shred trapped foxes! If I were targeting them I would use my reg MB750's though but some states have jaw restrictions.

can't catch lion here. if you do it's an immediate release and i do not look forward to the day I have to do that.
You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

I helped out a rancher in NM once. Caught ONE lion...! So, for what it might be worth, I made a cubby just like I'd make a lynx cubby (only relatively larger) near a calf the lion had killed and fed on. Used an Alaska #9 and lynx lure. It all worked out.
Come to think of it, that makes me 100% successful at trapping lions!
Pete Thats all I am looking for Pete, 1 set and 100% success.

I have caught 3 them on the family ranch. All on kills and all in a cubby set. I have seen several videos with them coming back several times to feed on a kill. If they find a kill before I get there that will be another option. Thanks
