I'm starting to get my fur put up. One of the first beaver I put up was this one. It didn't take any "pull" what-so-ever to tack her to the outside line of the beaver board.

I remember the location she came from. I had three beaver out of four traps on that location. It was a walk-in. I floated the beavers over to a high spot in the swamp and skinned them on the ground. Rough skinned pelts, skulls, and castors were plenty to have to carry out.

The thought of hauling those things up a steep bank convince me I was cut out for land trapping LOL.

So are beaver worth anything yet or is it something a guy does just for fun? There are plenty of beaver here but there's a better chance of catching an otter, which is still protected.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

If you have beaver and you market the whole animal I think you can turn a penny or two.

I am interested in any information anybody might have on the selling of beaver pelts by the pound. What is the approximate average weight of beaver pelts. If by the pound, would they be graded? Who is buying by the pound instead of grade. In other words, details a guy needs to know to be an informed seller.

I have gotten 13 in the past 5 days and only 3 brown. If I move out away from this area my brown count goes up. This area has always had majority black.

Mine would probably all grade hatters. Has anybody been selling pelts by the pound and how has it worked out for you?
