i doubt you loaded tss for less than a dollar a shell. its $50 a pound for the shot.

tss is a nontoxic shot so should be legal in those areas

We’ve been shooting TSS long before it was cool or even thought about on the market...and yes, you are correct it $1.87 a shell, went back and checked my notes. I’ve got enough to last my lifetime and that’s hunting multiple states each year (except this one) with an average of about 8 birds a year. And if I ever run out we still have some TSS to load some more.
TSS shines in smaller gauges. I’d never use it in a 12ga and I’d never haul a 12ga around chasing turkey ever again anyways. #9 TSS in a 20ga is a deadly load.

I'm shooting Apex Ninja 9.5s in my Winchester model 42 410 this year and it's deadly. I'd never shoot past 40 yards with it but inside of 40 it's nasty on paper and nasty on the gobblers. I also shot Apex in my 16 ga the past 2 years and it shoots very well too. Both the 16 and 410 are smooth bore full choke barrels.

Over the years I think most of the Turkeys I have shot I could have been using a 1 oz trap load instead of a Turkey load. Inside 25 yards with a tight choke and small sized shot BOOM DEAD

I had a buddy give me a TSS 7 to try. It killed just as good as my Winchester LongBeard XR 6s, so they must a be good load. smile

If you are hunting multiple states or only yours with limited time I'd say absolutely worth it. As with most threads to each their own and its not necessarily wrong if you choose to do something someone else thinks
is a stupid way to do it. I am not one to get caught up in the latest and greatest but I switched to a Indian Creek choke tube and TSS shot. If I can extend my kill range (which it did) I am going to do it, kill my birds and
move on to the next bird while some may be waiting for that magical distance.

Haven't heard 1 person say they don't extend range or penetrate well... definitely not a gimmick IMO... just pricey as all get out. I liked the comparison between TSS and a broadhead and arrow that was made earlier on prices.

No one said you should change. And yes, it's better. It's not even a question.

Stunning to see #4 buck mentioned in a turkey thread.

No more shocking than the fella swearing by #2 steel shot! But at 15 yds, a good BB gun should do the trick.

Agree with both of you all.
Big difference hunting high population or unpressured or backyard birds VS hearing one a day pressured public land turkeys far from home. I’ve hunted tough turkeys in the western U.S., but the toughest turkeys are in the Southeastern U.S. as a general rule.

Talked myself into a box of TSS... 20 gauge Browning 3" - 1 1/2oz. - 7 & 9 Duplex load... $36.99 (ouch). At least I get a "free" Thermacell if I send in $3.95 S&H. I've whizzed away $$$ before, sure I will again.... hoping for a legit 50 yd killing pattern.
