For a DVD, I would have to say Don Powell's Mink after Mink on Purpose, and also Eric Space's Mink Snaring videos.

PRACTIAL FARMLAND TRAPPING by Ray Lindroos. Dad got this book in December, 1946. I found it in the bottom drawer of the desk, in 1964. Was the first book of dad's I felt was actually good.

Also, at the same time a manila envelope from Herb Lenon with the 5 books he wrote. This was the books I read over and over.

I have to go along with Trapping north American Furbearers by Hawbaker. When I was a kid there was Science of trapping and another that escapes my memory. But one was written by kreps and the other by lynch. Those two were on my father's bookshelf.

Re: Gimme your one indispensable trapping book - 04/25/18 01:40 AM

Honestly, Stanley's book made trapping much more complicated them it should be for me. As a kid, I tried to exactly copy the sets in the book. It was all about the set instead of about finding the sweet spot. I think it was Carmen's foxes by the hundreds that first led me to understand how simple fox trapping could be. Also, for the basics, Gerald Weiland's fox and mink books are super. The first book to teach me how to think like a trapper was the second edition of Slim Pederson's book. I don't think you can get it anymore. Slim didn't just diagram a set, he tried to get across how to understand the animals behavior.

For coon, Austin Passomontes book is an excellent book on location, no matter what kind of traps and sets you use.
