I had to go in twice last month , once to blow in a tube and once to pee in a cup . Easiest job I ever had , lol ! Used to tick me off cause it screwed up my plans for the day but now it’s just an easy hour or so out of my day .

Just gotta learn to make lemonade, lol !

At one time I was taking a leak in a plastic cup more than in the john. I was the alternate for testing, but this was 20 years ago.
LOL. I could never understand, our cops did not have to be drug tested.

Re: For the moochers - 01/18/19 01:47 PM

Interesting. What do you do for a living? I once had to take a pee test before a dealership would hire me. Now I work for a police department, and I've never once had to take a drug test, even when I got in an accident once (Got rear ended at about 2 mph by some guy who though the stop sign didn't apply to him).

I haven't had a drink or drug in thirty years. I don't require myself (self-employed) to complete a drug test.

Maybe I can sell my pee to some of them cheese suckers?

I want to know where I can find free cheese.

I know the government discontinued it decades ago.

Re: For the moochers - 01/18/19 06:35 PM

Now days, it is just free cheese money. I know a guy that has been on disability for years, but is able to do asphalt shingle roofing , on the side. We don't talk anymore, because I told him that some of his roofing money should be handed out to other people. I now wish I would have turned him in.

Re: For the moochers - 01/18/19 06:45 PM

I also do not mind helping those in real need, but it just can't be that way. Most folks know someone that has struggled in life, but never give up, and keep working hard. There's just too many able bodied folks taking a handout, that should contribute!
I would love to see drug testing for the government aid receivers. But that would be unfair!!!

They used to give us a chunk of the "welfare cheese" with our school lunches when I went to public school. It was pretty good on Ritz crackers.

Re: For the moochers - 01/18/19 07:32 PM

I like the idea but, if it was required, some friend of some politicians would find a way to be sure to find a way to profit from the plan and add some huge, overly expensive bills to we who pay taxes to cover it.
And I don't believe any politician would withstand the heat generated by the bleeding hearts claiming such a plan targets those who already have it so tough by spending their lives making babies and watching netflix.

I don't ever see any of that cheese being ran through the checkout. See a lot of $60 prime rib, lobster and a whole lotta other goodies though. It's a good thing you passed your test and can now work harder.

Re: For the moochers - 01/18/19 08:23 PM

Just my opinion but I think they should have witheld gov welfare checks, before they took the money off of those who do work (although I won't say gov workers work hard).

But common sense does not make sense to the government.

Then again, those on welfare would get violent if you took their peanuts off of them. The working man.. he's kinda dumb, he keeps on working even if not getting paid.

At least I would get free cable, cell phone, health insurance and a meal ticket. Then again I couldn’t imagine being a leech on society, I guess I have to much pride.

Sounds good in theory but the cost to administration the test compared to the benefit of reduced numbers would make it prohibitively expensive.

Also most people receiving SNAP are employed.

They should do more to prevent fraud though.

Wish they'd put similar restrictions on it like they do WIC.

Is your state one of those with a super high tax on soda but SNAP purchases are tax free?

When it first started it was a discount program rather than straight free food.

You still needed cash (either from part time work or maintaining social connections) . I'd like to see that. Instead of $400 flat monthly, you get 50% off of qualified purchases.

When you see them go through the checkout with an abnormal number of one item like energy drinks, soft drinks and meat they are trading it for drugs or cigarettes. I see it daily. Many just sell their welfare food EBT for 50 cents on the dollar for drugs. If ever there needed to be another govt. agency it should be a force to individually weed out the ones that are drawing a check and are on drugs.

I could have drawn disability for a few health reasons since the day I turned 18- Im 56 now and never did sign up. The army rejected me because of them. My dad was a hard working man and gave me that sense of pride. I figure its no one elses problem but my own and I dealt with it. I will admit its tough right now with the economy as it is/ive slowed down a lot but I keep struggling through.

Re: For the moochers - 01/19/19 11:49 AM

Another thought- you sure wouldn't want me being the one that decides who gets it and who doesn't...…….Too many times I have "walked it off" and kept pushing on. Back in the early 80s I remember a young girl stacking feed outside the local farm store- she was missing her arm from the elbow down. She was my hero from that day on..

you say you could have drawn disability at at 18? Does that mean you had worked as a teenager and paid in enough to be eligible by the time you turned 18? Or are you talking about social security insurance. There's a big difference between the two money wise. I see house wife's on ssi !! And have meet a lot of obease people on ssi because their knees can't support their weight!!!! I have a problem with that!!!!!!! But I'm a christian and the Lord has stated thou shall not judge!!!!!!!!!!

Im not sure what it would have been, probably ssi. I was working since I was 16, either way at that point I didn't pay much at all into either...….

Re: For the moochers - 01/19/19 04:19 PM

Last year for the first time in my working career I was in a spot where I was having to sign up for un-employment bennies.

Was not happy about it, did the forms on the computer, it was amazing how it's so easy to twist the questions to your needs, the whole program is geared to be abused. It seemed to good to be true to have some cash finally coming in.

I was given two months help, $400.00 each which would cover gas money to find work and some food or small bills, people live on this stipend, and figure out how to work it for more life after the time period is up.

I messed up one week filling out the form and they shut my assistance down until I paid it back, which one can't do until your working again, had to go through a phone court system, and they fixed it when they found out it was their mistake, I told them I would never go on it ever again, I would sell every thing I owned rather than be a party to the guilt system they put on you to partake of it. Their response was it works for those who need it, like I was just there to take it for free.

Those who abuse it have a system working and know every move around that court deal, the whole thing needs serious revamping, once you learn how to work it, you never will leave it. I'd advise every one just stay away from it, it's an octopus you can't get free from.

Re: For the moochers - 01/19/19 04:38 PM

I to use to have to pee in the cup as I had a CDL and the company paid for the physical when it came due. I was the go to tester and did not hold a CDL job with the company anymore and was tested monthly threatened if I did not pee in the cup within 1 hour I would be pulled out of service and investigated. Torqued me cause it is an hour drive to work and I would pee as soon as I arrived only to come out of bathroom and have supervisor tell me during safety briefing I had to give another sample. Then sit there and chug water for an hour pee just enough for a sample then (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) every 15 minutes the rest of the night. I had enough and now pay for my own physical and the company can go pack sand as they have no rights to my CDL.....

Another thing I see mentioned is health care for illegals paid by US. I go to the doctor and if I have no insurance they won't see me ( But I have company paid insurance ) BUT for instance there is a meth head in the local community that either shot himself or his girlfriend shot him (in the face) he has NO insurance has had multiple costly operations and many more to come at the least they say he will be in the hospital for a year if he doesn't die first. The bill for all that will be over a million- Who pays for that ?

My health care denied my daughter (handi-capped) her monthly infusion because her secondary insurance didn't pay the co-pay of $20 a month for four months totaling $80. We have to pre order the infusion meds and have them sent to the infusion center. AND her secondary unknown to us cancelled her primary insurance and made themselves the primary then said she didn't need that medicine any longer and NEVER even seen her ! Been a nightmare figuring this out but with a lot of heated phone calls we finally ironed it out.

One needs an advocate to get thru all the GOVT. BS.

It was a scam set up by insurance companies to get out paying insurance claims. They enticed businesses' with cheaper insurance rates, And now its come back to bite them in the butt. Its getting hard to find enough workers that will tolerate the humiliation. Or many with legal cannabis in their system

Alcohol is the one that cause all the accident's. And to not be hypocritical, there should be none in their system for 30 days as well.

How many on here would still have their jobs if they did ?

I'd still have a job.

Most of us that are getting drug tested on a regular basis are required to do so by the federal government and DOT rules and it's not necessarily because we have CDLs. The company I work for has a drug testing program that is mandatory because we work on natural gas lines and those lines are regulated by DOT. Non-CDL employees are a part of the program as well, most likely we have more non-CDL employees than those with.

I'm with you on the legalization argument Jeff but I have no problem with a post accident drug test, I don't want to work around people who are under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs and even prescribed opioids.

You’d be surprised at the people who use drugs. We had to fire a project manager the week before Christmas. He was on cocaine. Never in a million years would we have suspected this if he hadn’t lost a huge amount of money this year on jobs and we hadn’t found him hanging out with a guy who’s known for coke. We found him with our gps tracking on our trucks. This guy was going to the coke dealers house before work, during and after work. We did a hair follicle test on him and his numbers where insanely high. High to the point the test company had never seen that much in a live person the told us.

I was somewhat surprised when asked at Director level to drug screen when I was hired. Maybe it’s an equal treatment thing or following a CA law which sets standard for all sites in US and Canada. Haven’t had to screen more than once in my first 17 years of full time employment.

Then I moved to PA where you have “Occupational Priviledge” Taxes. Your privileged to be employed so borough, state, and school tax you on your job class. I wouldn’t mind if my property taxes weren’t already 70% school tax and nearing $1k a month. The Borough I’m on fringe of has decided it’s new building isn’t new enough so another 2 millage points increased to build another and kick Veterans out of their own park/space. Veterans deserve it and they even held sponsored fireworks on 4th of July which now can’t happen. Some grumbling from residents all that happened and local news says it’s just “old curmudgeons that don’t like change”. No bias from the young reporter there.... thought a more rural local would be refreshing, same old same if not worse

I never had to pee in a cup as a fire fighter. Was subject to it if it was deemed I did something on the job to hurt someone. Then they'd send ya for mandatory test and if positive you where probably gone right then . There were guys that got into trouble off duty with booze and then were put on random testing at work.

As for every getting worrying about them giving out government cheese? As I recall was it not a purchase from farmers with tax payer dollars to help price support farmers for over producing???? So who was the real welfare recipient in all that cheese dealing? Easier to know who paid for it than to sort out who sucked up the most benefit??

It was very common even back then they’d sell their cheese for cash for cigarettes or dope. They’re still handing out something the same way they did cheese or their giving money to pay utility bills or something as I frequently see long lines early in the morning at the handout place and it’s not job applications.

Lotta young men and women out there that have made a very lucrative career out of it by not only signing themselves up,but the kids too. If a kid is a little slow,oh hes got a disability. If the kids under 18,guess who gets the check? Why do we do this???? How does a monthly check help a kid with a learning disability? And dont say it gives them options to help them because Ive seen things that would make you see red or get sick. None of these bums use that money to help thier kids. As a matter of fact, ive seen the kids go around in worse shape after they get a check issued to them because that just means the parents can get even drunker or higher for a little bit longer. How about some accountability??? To get that check, have them bring in estimates of goods and services that their regular freeloader checks wont cover. Or at least some supporting documentation that the money is used in the best intrest of the child. And heres the crown jewel in my opinion..... If your too mentally disabled or lack normal intellect to the point that you can't support yourself, how in the world can you be allowed to hold a drivers licence???? Or run around the woods with a loaded weapon and hunt, or for that matter even posses a firearm??? They want to claim that they are disabled and cant work because of a learning disability, then treat them as mentally challenged people. Cant work.....no hunting and driving. Clear alot of that crap up in a big hurry. They have to have some type of case manager right?? Have them question them on what they are going to do with that check. And by the way, why do certain people get so touchy and constitutional when asked for a drug test?? You are working for that company. The company isnt working for you. If its thier rules then thats what you have to do. If you feel strongly against being drug tested, why not go to a company that doesent test? Or you could put down the pipe for a little bit. That usually cures the "its not constitutional" argument pretty quick.

So true. I had a neighbor on S.S.I. he was 19 and said he had a learning disorder and always wanted to punch someone out. He was always hunting or fishing in or out of season. His father told me he is just lazy and spoiled because of his mom. We both agree he had a big sarcastic mouth. Now he is mooching off of his grandmother. He did wrap up her car and never had a driver license. And yes if you are a loser the government will take care of you. What about our disabled vets?
