I know an old man who uses gasoline in a fruit tree sprayer. He says it does its job and then evaporates w/o doing any other harm

I have a wire wheel for my string trimmer

I don't have stones but concrete with cracks that builds up vegetation so before snow season I run over the cracks with the wire wheel and it gets the growth out so that it doesn't catch the snow blower and sheer pins off

heat from torch or boiling water

chemical options safe around a well are bleach or pool shock

inexpensive bleach in a sprayer kills most grasses and weeds and can help with mildew and moss

pool shock is a little more per gallon but can be diluted and still work well , we used to clean patios and decks with pool shock and water in a sprinkler can chemical into water not water into chemical

Human pee aged 1 month. Works great and it's cheap.

I thought this might make the weeds grow better. Carry on.

So is it a shallow well?
If not you won't have any problems unless you dump a tanker full.

like any fertilizer if you can get it on strong enough to burn everything it will kill

the question is how fast will everything grow back as soon as it rains and weakens it

also will you be able to stand your patio while it smells like a bar urinal.

I only collect morning pee. Seems to have more impurities in it, unlike the clear pee I get the rest of the day.
I can pee a gallon in a few days, I just keep the lid on it and keep it in a dark place( corner of garage near the door) until it turns dark in color. It will even work on poison ivy.
Trappers don't waste anything. Lol

Crush up some water softner crystals and add water, pour in the cracks and those plants will wilt down quickly so will the grass so don't spill any.

1-Gallon of vinegar, 1-cup of salt, and 2 tablespoons or 1 oz. of Dawn dish soap. Mix together and apply with a sprayer. Will not harm pets or kids and doesn't take long to work.

Wetdog, do you have a patent on your method?

I have tried every stupid formula people can come up with. And a lot of the commercial ones too.

Nothing kills grass permanently (well there is some stuff but you have to be licensed) it all comes back.

Dead grass doesn't come back. It's dead.
To prevent new grass from growing you need some sort of soil sterilizer. There's plenty of stuff out there that doesn't take a license.

Roundup binds to the soil and won't wash into your well. I personally wouldn't hesitate to use it. I know you said no chemicals but everything mentioned so far is a chemical - just not one sold commercially as a pesticide.

I would also add in some Surflan to prevent future weeds from growing. Roundup kills what's growing now and Surflan prevents new seeds from germinating for up to a year. Only down side is that surflan has a bright orange marker added and it will take a few rainstorms for that to go away.

Round up in a sprayer diruing hot dry day. It will be gone PLUS if it rains it will leach out through the soil. Like said unless your dumping a 5 gallon bucket or more won't effect the well.

Round up 365 stops it for a year . Won't hurt your well.

Re: Killing grass/weeds between patio stones - 07/15/21 06:49 PM

I just buy a box of pickle salt and sprinkle it good between the cracks-It must stay in the ground for a long time,no growth for a year.

Roundup won't kill everything....including a plant that looks like clover.

Propane torch used on a regular basis eventually stops growth of any thing green I've not wanted around my place, quick easy and won't harm only where you point it !!
